About Cedar Valley's Traveling Pet Nanny

Committed to Your Pet's Happiness & Comfort Above All!

Who Am I?

Life & Career Goals

  • My name is Adriana Almaraz.
  • I am a 26 year old social work student. I've spent all of my life living in the Cedar Valley.
  •  I have a passion for animals, mental health, and helping people so why not combine all three? I plan to be an "animal assisted social worker" by the end of my studies. The healing power of animals is something I truly believe in because I've experienced it first hand. As I know most of you have as well! I'd love to bring the joy of dogs, cats, and possibly farm animals into the therapy world.
  • The goal is to have my very own mindfulness mental health retreat with the assistance of animals, of course.

Why I love Pet Sitting & Future Plans:

  • I became a pet sitter in 2021 after being laid off during the pandemic. My passion for animals is something I knew I wanted to incorporate into my life, so I took the leap and opened my own pet care business in October of 2022. I am so glad I took the leap because I genuinely love what I do. Working with animals helps my own mental health, helps me stay active, and improves my overall happiness!
  • Although I will not be providing this service as my permanent career or full time job, I do take it very seriously. I spend a lot of time studying animals, their behaviors, how to improve my services, etc. I plan on continuing my pet sitting journey for at least another 3-4 years until I receive my Masters of Social Work!
  • I reside on the West side of Waterloo with my partner and five fur babes. (Two dogs and three cats.)  We love to take our border collies and our kitten on long walks, hikes, and to open fields. I was blessed with three wonderful lap kitties that love to play/adventure from time to time.
  • I've had animals my entire life, so taking care of animals is something I am no stranger to. I have a wide experience with animals such as: cats, dogs, rabbits, spiders, guinea pigs, turtles, exotic birds, fish, geckos, etc. When I am caring for an animal I am not as familiar with, I make it a point to do a lot of research before the meet and greet so I can come somewhat prepared with a little knowledge.
  • In my free time, I enjoy crafting, painting, meditating, working in the garden, reading, learning, and spending time with my friends and family!

Here are some Photos of Animals in My Care!

Animals truly love me and I love them! People call me the "pet whisperer" because they are usually in shock with the amount of trust I get with their animal in a very short amount of time.
